Cute joke

An old country preacher... ...had a teenage son, and it was getting time the boy should give some thought to choosing a profession. Like many young men his age, the boy didn't really know what he wanted to do, and he didn't seem too concerned about it. One day, while the boy was away at school, his father decided to try an experiment. He went into the boy's room and placed on his study table four objects.

1. A Bible...

2. A silver dollar...

3. A bottle of whiskey...

4. And a Playboy magazine...

'I'll just hide behind the door,' the old preacher said to himself. 'When he comes home from school today, I'll see which object he picks up.

If it's the Bible, he's going to be a preacher like me, and what a Blessing that would be!

If he picks up the dollar, he's going to be a business man, and that would be okay, too.

But if he picks up the bottle, he's going to be a no-good drunken bum, and Lord, what a shame that would be.

And worst of all, if he picks up that magazine, he's going to be a skirt-chasing womanizer.'

The old man waited anxiously, and soon heard his son's foot-steps as he entered the house whistling and headed for his room.

The boy tossed his books on the bed, and as he turned to leave the room he spotted the objects on the table...

With curiosity in his eye, he walked over to inspect them. Finally, he picked up the Bible and placed it under his arm. He picked up the silver dollar and dropped it into his pocket. He uncorked the bottle and took a big drink, while he admired this month's centerfold.

'Lord have mercy,' the old preacher disgustedly whispered.

'He's gonna run for Congress!'

My tomatoes, 2010

I decided o grow some tomatoes this year. along with cucumbers, and some kind on melon. I dug 3 foot holes in this hard California clay. No easy task ether. I have never encountered dirt like this in my life. If ya wet it really good it is manageable. I also did the compost pile... And would you know it. there really are worms here. I thought I was going to have to buy worms. But I do have some. not as many as i want and the are pretty short. about an inch or so. Compared to Michigan's three inch plus worms It is quit a difference

Back yard
The pictures are not great so I may redo this whole thing. But for now here it is

I Have 6 in all. these two in the back out grew they're cages pretty good and I had to build taller and wider ones out of wood

looks pretty ominous doesn't it? These shins a pretty hard. And they are not as sweet as I would have liked. But still better than those I get from the store. I used soil conditioner and manure But no peat moss. Next year I will include peat

These two are in the from yard. there is a melon plant also here. But the plants don't allow the sun to do it's magic. and again No Peat Moss
And have a great skin. And the most sweet so far. I have yet to taste the yellow I planted!

These had fruit early. and I was in Michigan. by the time I came home the stems grew out of the side of the cage so I had quit the mess when I returned. I staked them up the best I could. Then again two weeks latter as needed... I Am hopping this will need no more.
these two did not fair as well They are among roses And it's herd to distinguish what id what... Where as the others over took the roses

But these had only a one foot hole dug and  and it's soil worked with conditioner and manure ... I was a test to see how thing would grow. Next year I will do better and include peat moss

Not a very good blog but it is what it is... And it helps me!

Excuse me, But your an elephant!

No kidding, I thought so. Then why did you build this building on the trail made by elephant's did you not know... LoL Is this funny or what...

Mfuwe Lodge in Zambia happens to have been built next to a mango tree that one family of pachyderms have always visited when the fruit ripens.

When they returned one year and found the luxury accommodation in the way, they simply walked through reception.
These amazing pictures show why you shouldn't get between an African elephant and its favourite food.

Now the family group, headed by matriarch Wonky Tusk, return every November to gorge on mangos - up to four times a day.

Andy Hogg, 44, director at the Bushcamp Company that runs the Lodge, has lived in South Luangwa National Park since 1982.
But in all his years of dealing with wild animals he has never seen such intimate interaction between man and beast.
This is the only place in the world where elephants freely get so close to humans,' says the 44-year-old.

'The elephants start coming through base camp in late November of each year to eat the mangos from our trees.
'When they are ripe they come through and they stand about for four to six weeks coming back each day or second day to eat the mangos.'
Living in the 5,000 square mile national park, the ten-strong elephant herd are led to the lodge each day by Wonky Tusk.

Migration route: The hotel was built directly in the path of the elephants' route to one of their favourite foods - mangos

'The most interesting thing about this is that they are wild animals and are certainly not tame,' explains Andy.

'They come through the lodge to eat the fruit.
'There are ten in that herd and it is only that herd that comes through. It is a strange thing.
'The matriarchal in the herd is Wonky Tusk, and she brings the nine others through and they come and go as they please.'
Mfuwe Lodge consists of seven camps and the base camp where the elephants come through.
Employing 150 staff, the management of the lodge are happy to report that there have been no incidents involving the elephants to date.
'The elephants do get reasonably close to the staff as you can see with the pictures of the elephants near the reception,' he explains.
'But we do not allow the guests to get too close.'
'Guests can stand in the lounge are but as long as there is a barrier between the elephants and the guests that is okay,' he added.

'The elephants are not aggressive but you don't want to tempt anything as they are wild animals.
'It is the elephants choice to come into base camp and they have been doing it for the last ten years.
'There are other wild mango trees around and they seem to prefer this one.'
And even thought the lodge was unwittingly built upon the path, Andy says they had no idea the elephants would insist on returning.
'It wasn't a design mistake - no-one really knew they were going to come through,' he says.
'The lodge was built and then the elephants started coming through afterwards.

Hello you people

So I awake , and as useal, I go for a smoke...  well, After a trip to the rest room a quick wash then  get the coffeegoing... I go out side, as I am not alowwed to smike in the house... Roll a bugler ciggerette Croutch down and see this lil guy, Or is it female I don't know... But here IT is  on my belly. Feasting away...
I had one before in the mountains of kintucky. but never even seen one in Michigan... Yet here it is, A tick. I walked to Andrea's home after my bath... I never sat down but I got this LiL blood sucker from some where.

I does not hurt . Not even noticeable except for the large black spot on my skin. But not as much as a fether falling on your arm. So i take my ciggerette and heat em up so i can remove it tith out leaving the head/pinchers in my skin...

Thats how you do it! So I understand. And it worked.  I don't really look happy but it was not much of a joy giver, Removing blood sucker :-( The blood sucker did not make me sad ether... Just amazed... Latter when the home owner, Larry, Came home I told him what I found? and he stated that the school where Hayden, his eldest son, attends had them pretty bad... they even had to spray for it... So it seems it came in on hydens cloths...
